Pre School

Our preschool curriculum celebrates the importance of the formative years by providing a strong and sure start. As children grow in varying rates and often fastest in toddler years, it is imperative that teachers in Pre school challenge the traditional curriculum. Our approach honours the development of the child as a whole, intellectually, physically, emotionally ,and socially across ages. Children are exposed to dynamic learning environment, challenges and choices in activities, open ended questions, and interactions with peers and teachers. Working with colours and textures, engaging with music and movement and a plethora of other mediums with ample freedom to ensure creativity in each child. Our learning environment is cheerful & engaging. Furniture is ergonomic and safe. Classroom places are uncluttered.

PHILOSOPHY

The Birla Open Minds International Schools (BOMIS), firmly reiterate and restore what Tagore called the hallmark of childhood – ‘joy of learning’ and ‘the creative spirit’. BOMIS believes in the uniqueness of each child thereby fostering holistic development through integrated learning opportunities. Our philosophy is based on the constructive approach, where the learners are actively involved in their learning in a democratic environment. Learning experiences are interactive and student-centric, progressing from known to unknown, concrete to abstract and local to global. A learner at BOMIS develops global perspective and life skills to help and excel in his or her desired field.

LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

Education aims to establish cognitive, effective and kinetic skills of every child. Each child has dominant intelligence in unique areas therefore creating a conducive learning environment is essential. At BOMIS preschools learning environment is not only well equipped but also children are given ample space to express themselves, ask questions, make mistakes, observe and think on various topics. The teaching goes beyond the books in order to connect it with surroundings.

PARENTS AS PARTNERS

We welcome and appreciate parental involvement in their child’s well-being and development. We therefore provide parents with valuable information on how their child is doing on a regular basis through the child’s portfolio and developmental report book replete with work samples, updates, narratives and photographs of children engaged in different areas of learning. We also encourage proactive parental interaction and feedback system through: Parent Orientation Programs

Quarterly parent-teacher conferences
Volunteering in various celebrations, events and festivals
Active participation in the annual Eco project by the school in consensus with the Parents
Active participation in parent effectiveness workshops which stem from parental needs and expressed concerns on parenting struggles

OUR CURRICULUM METHODOLOGY

Excelling at a task’ is the focus of the young learner now and for that facilitator works as a motivator. This is also the stage where the young learner is prepared for formal schooling as the next level and hence given a chance at portraying skills and knowledge on a common platform where the ever important Learning Outcomes of a Preschool are visible. The Learning Outcomes are displayed beautifully through their thought and actions which are only making them ‘FUTURE READY’. Besides these there are many more that the young learner accumulates and all of these go hand in hand.

WELL RESEARCHED AND CHILD CENTRIC CURRICULUM

In order to capture the full range of abilities and talents that people possess, Gardner theories that people do not have just an intellectual capacity, but have many kinds of intelligence, including musical, interpersonal, spatial-visual, and linguistic intelligence.

The integrated and interdisciplinary approach provides a balanced curriculum to foster holistic development of the child. This enhances the reach to all the developmental areas of a child which many differ in interest areas, learning methods, strength and weakness. Hence resulting in enhanced skills based on CREATIVITY, INNOVATION and INVENTION.
